David Ortiz cracked a homer and had 3 RBI as the John The Fab 9 topped the
Craig Boys of Summer by a score of 7 to 3 at Coors Field.

John scored 5 runs in the top of the 3rd inning with the help of 5 hits. That
early scoring held up. John had 10 hits for the night while Craig had 6.

The victory went to Ben Sheets(1-0) who went 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Justin Verlander(0-1) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around
pretty good, giving up 4 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.

In a tight game it was the Sam Mighty Acorns 4, the Terry Blast U Balls 2 at
Wrigley Field.

The game started off with Sam taking the lead in the first scoring 2 runners
on 1 hit. Sam finished with 8 hits in the victory.

The winning pitcher was Todd Wellemeyer(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 5 innings.
Mariano Rivera got the save, his 1st. Jeremy Guthrie(0-1) was hit with the
loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3
innings.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Wellemeyer, 'I got
burned on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that
matters.'

TREVOR AT JESSICA

At Minute Maid Park the Trevor Fencebusters easily handled the Jessica 2 much
baseball by the score of 12 to 8.

Trevor went ahead for good in the top of the 4th inning as they scored 3 runs
on 3 base hits. The key at-bat was by Aaron Miles who deflated the crowd as
he banged out a single bringing in two baserunners. Trevor kept the pressure
on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.

The victory was credited to Jair Jurrjens(1-0) who went 8 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 7 runs. Scott Kazmir(0-1) was given the loss. He was touched for 3
homeruns in his 5 innings of work.


LONI AT BASEBALL

In a close game the Loni Green Monstahs got by the Baseball Stars in 11
innings by the score of 10 to 8.

The score was knotted at 7 after nine innings. Loni came out the victor in
the 11th inning. Chris Dickerson started the inning off right when he drew a
walk. After an out was recorded, Ramon Santiago stepped in and he stroked a
single. Geovany Soto then belted a three-run homer (his 1st of the season).
Yunel Escobar was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. This was a
game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing
- 5 times in all.

Jonathan Papelbon(1-0) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Papelbon was helped out by Damaso Marte who recorded his 1st save. Will
Ohman(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.


STAPLEY AT BEN

Alex Rios had 3 base hits as the Stapley Luck defeated the Ben Free K Mitchell
by a score of 7 to 2 at Ebbetts Field.

A.J. Burnett(1-0) pitched well for Stapley in their victory. He allowed 6
hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Overall Stapley out-hit Ben 11 to 6.

Grant Balfour recorded his 1st save. The loss was charged to Jesse
Litsch(0-1). He gave up 3 runs and 7 hits in 5 and 2/3 innings.
