Pat Burrell cracked 2 homeruns as the Tyler Baseball Stars defeated the John
Fab 9 9 to 6 at Polo Grounds.
Burrell really 'lit it up' for Tyler. He lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run in the 2nd inning and emptied the bases with a Grand Slam
homerun (his 7th of the season) in the 6th inning. Tyler managed 11 hits in
their victory.
Will Ohman(3-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Ohman got
help from Kerry Wood who earned his 3rd save. Hideki Okajima(0-1) was the
loser in relief.

Third baseman David Wright smacked 4 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Terry Blast
U Balls defeated the Jason Stapley Luck by the score of 11 to 6 at
Candlestick Park.
Wright was in a groove all evening. He blasted a solo shot in the 1st inning,
smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 5th inning, ripped a solo home run
in the 7th inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 5th of the season) in
the 8th inning. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town
fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.
The winning pitcher was Jeremy Guthrie(2-1) who allowed 6 runs in 8 innings.
Grant Balfour(0-1) took the loss in relief. 'I was in my hotel room the
other night, working on my swing and made some adjustments,' Wright said.
'I'm always working on it. If they are getting you out certain ways, you've
got to make changes.'

The Jessica 2 much baseball edged the Sam Mighty Acorns at Wrigley Field by
the score of 5 to 4.
Josh Beckett(1-3) was credited with the win in a less than impressive
performance. He gave up 6 hits and no walks in 5 innings and was touched for
2 homeruns. Jessica had 12 hits for the game and Sam had 8.
Brad Lidge earned his 3rd save. Andy Sonnanstine(1-3) was tagged with the
loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Taylor Buchholz came through with a solid 3 innings and right fielder Vernon
Wells cracked a homer and had 3 RBI at Fenway Park as the streaking Craig
Boys of Summer won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Loni Green
Monstahs by the count of 9 to 7.
Craig had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Ty Wigginton initiated the scoring
spurt when he stroked a base-hit. Mike Cameron was next and he drew a walk.
Wells then lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his 2nd of the
season). Craig had 16 hits overall, while Loni had 11.
Buchholz(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 innings. Joakim
Soria recorded his 4th save. Kevin Gregg(0-2) was given the loss in relief.
'The only way this one could have been better', said Buchholz, 'was if we had
played it at home.'
BEN AT TREVOR

Shortstop Jimmy Rollins had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Edinson Volquez
delivered 9 solid innings as the Ben Free K Mitchell outscored the Trevor
Fencebusters 8 to 1.
Volquez(1-0) was tremendous on the mound for Ben. He allowed just 5 hits and
1 walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 5.40 to 3.95. Ben banged out 11
hits on the night.
The losing pitcher was Dan Haren(1-2). He pitched 5 innings giving up 5 hits
and 1 walk. 'Volquez took our guys to school' Trevor's manager said. 'Too bad
he doesn't pitch for us - it would make my job a whole lot easier!'
