Troy Glaus had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Sam Mighty Acorns defeated the Jason
Stapley Luck 9 to 3 at Wrigley Field.
Glaus helped send the fans home happy. He delivered a single in the 2nd
inning, delivered a one-base hit which scored a run in the 4th inning, ripped
a solo home run (his 4th of the season) in the 6th inning and doubled scoring
two baserunners in the 7th inning. For the game Sam out-hit Jason 12 to 9.
The victory went to Cliff Lee(2-2) who went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs. Juan
Cruz got the save, his 1st. A.J. Burnett(2-1) was the losing pitcher. He
allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 10 hits and 5 walks in 6 and 2/3
innings.
With this win, Sam has a 7-8 record. They have been 3-7 lately. With the
loss, the Jason ballclub's record is 9-6.

Aramis Ramirez had 2 base hits and Chad Billingsley came through with a solid
6 innings as the red-hot Craig Boys of Summer outscored the Terry Blast U
Balls 3 to 2.
Craig had 2 runs cross the plate in the top of the 5th inning when they had 3
base hits. They would prove to be the difference in the contest. Terry was
set down quietly in the bottom of the 9th.
Billingsley(2-0) went 6 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Billingsley got
relief help from Chad Qualls who gained credit for his 1st save. Ervin
Santana(1-2) took the loss. He allowed 3 runs and 7 hits in 5 and 2/3
innings.
With the win, Craig continues their noteworthy winning streak. Terry Stapley
was upset but philosophical about the loss. 'Sometimes you run into a team
that's on a roll. This was one of those times.'

Chris Dickerson cracked a homer at AT&T Park as the Loni Green Monstahs beat
the Trevor Fencebusters 8 to 6.
In the 4th inning Loni scored 6 runs with the help of 5 hits. The key at-bat
was by Aubrey Huff who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he
belted a three-run homer (his 1st of the season). Trevor was out-hit by
Loni, 11 hits to 8.
Jake Peavy(2-0) was the winner allowing 6 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Jonathan
Papelbon gained credit for his 2nd save. Carlos Zambrano(0-4) ended up with
the loss. He surrendered 5 runs in 3 innings and saw his ERA increase from
5.87 to 7.36.
'He gutted it out' Loni Stapley said of Peavy. 'I was very impressed by his
tenacity.'

The Ben Free K Mitchell came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 9 to
8.
Ben had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 4 runners
on 2 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Manny Ramirez who silenced
Yankee Stadium as he depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand slam
home run (his 5th of the season). Ben finished with 9 hits in the victory.
The victory was credited to Jeff Bennett(3-0) who went 2/3 of an inning,
allowing 1 run. Carlos Marmol earned his 5th save. Brad Ziegler(0-1)
suffered the loss in relief. By giving up 4 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings his
ERA increased from 3.86 to 9.00.
John Morrey was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure Ben Stapley will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'

Scott Kazmir carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Jessica 2 much
baseball beat the Tyler Baseball Stars by a score of 9 to 2.
Kazmir(1-1) was in control of the game from the outset. He didn't allow much,
just 3 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. Kazmir chalked up 10
strikeouts. The left-handed Kazmir lost his no-hit bid when Garrett Atkins
singled with nobody out in the 6th inning. Overall Jessica out-hit Tyler 7
to 4.
The losing pitcher was Mike Pelfrey(1-1). He was not very effective,
surrendering 6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Kazmir was jubilant in the
hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot
of support as did my teammates. We got the victory and I'll sure take 10
strikeouts anytime!'
