Matt Cain mowed down 13 Craig batters and Albert Pujols went yard and had 3
RBI as the Sam Mighty Acorns defeated the Craig Boys of Summer by a score of
9 to 3 at Coors Field.
Cain(5-5) delivered a fine performance for Sam. He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks
in 8 innings and surrendered 2 'round-trippers'. For the game Sam out-hit
Craig 16 to 6.
Zack Greinke(6-4) absorbed the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits
and 2 walks in 6 innings. Cain didn't realize how many strikeouts he was
racking up. When told he had 13 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding?
Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that
many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'

Taylor Teagarden rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Yankee Stadium as the
Tyler Baseball Stars beat the John Fab 9 by the count of 8 to 6.
Teagarden enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He blasted a two-run home run
in the 5th inning and delivered a solo blast (his 6th of the season) in the
8th inning. John proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.
The win was credited to J.P. Howell(4-0) who went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing 3
runs. Kerry Wood was credited with his 13th save. Hideki Okajima(1-4) was
hit with the loss in relief.
Tyler now has a record of 39-31. With the loss, the John ballclub's record is
28-42.

Alexei Ramirez hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Ben Free K Mitchell defeated
the Terry Blast U Balls by the score of 2 to 1 at Ebbetts Field.
Ben tallied 2 runs in the 2nd inning. That early scoring held up. Carlos
Marmol was perfect in relief and gained credit for his 13th save.
Ryan Dempster(9-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Ervin
Santana(6-6) ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 innings allowing 7 hits
and 2 walks.

Designated hitter Luke Scott cracked 2 homeruns at Minute Maid Park as the
Jessica 2 much baseball came back dramatically to top the Trevor Fencebusters
by the score of 9 to 8.
Jessica erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning when they tallied
4 runs on 5 hits. Jessica simply wore out the Trevor pitching staff, scoring
in 6 different innings.
The winning pitcher was Chad Durbin(5-0) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3
innings. Joe Nathan(0-5) suffered the loss in relief. Jessica Van Tassell
was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked about his
feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you
this much - I know how my counterpart, Trevor's manager, feels right now -
and it's not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short end of
one of these!'

Second baseman Dan Uggla hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI and Jake Peavy
struck out 10 batters at Busch Stadium where the Loni Green Monstahs beat the
Jason Stapley Luck 6 to 1.
Peavy(8-2) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Jason batters. He allowed only 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings lowering his
ERA to 2.80. Loni had 16 hits for the afternoon.
A.J. Burnett(4-8) was the losing pitcher. He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits
and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. Peavy was asked about his big strikeout
performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these numbers on the
road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands, everything gets
real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be able to take the
crowd out of the game.'
