Ricky Nolasco(6-3), with relief help from Kerry Wood, shut down the Jason
Stapley Luck hitters at Polo Grounds. The Tyler Baseball Stars came away
with a 6 to 0 victory.
Tyler jumped on top of Jason in the 5th inning scoring one runner on 2 hits.
After two were out Brandon Inge cracked a solo homerun (his 1st of the
season). Grady Sizemore was next and he slapped a one-base hit. Sizemore
took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. Dustin Pedroia got his
turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Tyler finished with 11 hits while
Jason ended up with 5.
Wood earned the save, his 11th. Tim Lincecum(8-2) was given the loss. He was
hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Brian McCann homered and had 2 RBI as the John Fab 9 defeated the Terry Blast
U Balls 10 to 4 at Candlestick Park.
Ubaldo Jimenez(3-4) was solid if not spectacular. He was reached for 9 hits
and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 3 'round-trippers'. John had
many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.
Hideki Okajima got the save, his 2nd. Gil Meche(5-4) took the loss. He got
hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
The John ballclub's record now stands at 23-32. Terry has a record of 26-26
after the loss.

James Shields reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts as the Loni Green Monstahs
topped the Craig Boys of Summer by a score of 6 to 1 at Fenway
Park.
Shields(8-2) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He allowed just 6 hits
and 1 walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.85. Loni had a total of 12
hits for the game.
Justin Verlander(2-5) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 9 hits and 4 walks
in 5 and 1/3 innings. Shields was pleased with his performance. He noted,
'I had good zip on my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on.
The fans really got into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can
only do that again in my next outing.'

David Murphy had 4 hits and 7 RBI as the Ben Free K Mitchell ballclub
embarrassed the Trevor Fencebusters by the count of 19 to 9.
Murphy propelled Ben to victory. He delivered a one-base hit scoring two
baserunners in the 3rd inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his
1st of the season) in the 5th inning, hit a single which plated a run in the
7th inning and lined a base-hit scoring a run in the 8th inning. Ben lit up
the scoreboard in the 7th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits and the 9th
inning with 7 runs on 3 hits. Offensively, Ben was a juggernaut. They
scored in 6 separate innings.
Hong-Chih Kuo(4-1) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 5 innings. Dan Haren(5-5)
suffered the loss. He was touched for 8 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3
innings.
'I felt great out there tonight' Murphy said. 'I was seeing the ball
perfectly, and I was right on it with my swing.
JESSICA AT SAM

Eric Hinske had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the Sam Mighty Acorns defeated the
Jessica 2 much baseball by the score of 12 to 9 at Wrigley Field.
Sam took the lead for keeps in the 7th inning when they tallied 3 runs on 4
hits. The key at-bat was by Michael Young who brought the crowd to their
feet when he delivered a base-hit which was good for two runs. A wild
affair, this game saw the lead change 6 times.
Matt Capps(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Capps got help from Mariano Rivera who was credited with
his 11th save. Huston Street(0-2) was tagged with the loss in relief.
