Pat Burrell rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Coors Field as the Tyler
Baseball Stars pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Craig Boys of
Summer by the count of 8 to 6.

Tyler came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning scoring 4
runners on 4 hits. The highlight belonged to Taylor Teagarden who silenced
the stadium when he doubled scoring two baserunners. Tyler managed 13 hits
in their victory.

The win was credited to J.P. Howell(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 1
run. Howell got relief help from Kerry Wood who gained credit for his 4th
save. Joakim Soria(3-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. His ERA increased
from 1.54 to 4.26 as he allowed 4 runs in 1 inning.

Soria was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get
away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One
minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I
get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'

JOHN AT JESSICA

The Jessica 2 much baseball registered 5 runs in the 7th inning and had very
little trouble at Minute Maid Park downing the John Fab 9. The score was 9
to 4.

Jonathan Broxton(1-0) was dominant in relief. He gave up just 1 hit and no
walks in 3 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA to 1.00. John was out-hit by
Jessica, 13 hits to 5.

Broxton got help from Huston Street who earned his 1st save. Ben Sheets(1-1)
was given the loss. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 11 hits and
1 walk.


TREVOR AT JASON

Ted Lilly dominated striking out 12 Trevor batters and designated hitter
Carlos Delgado smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Jason Stapley Luck
smashed the overmatched Trevor Fencebusters, 11 to 1.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Delgado. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st inning, cracked a
two-run shot (his 7th of the season) in the 4th inning and lined a one-base
hit in the 7th inning. Jason banged out 9 hits on the afternoon.

The victory was credited to Lilly(2-1) who went the distance, allowing 1 run.
Dan Haren(1-3) was charged with the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in
his 3 and 1/3 innings of work.

Lilly was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there.
The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the victory
and I'll sure take 12 strikeouts anytime!'

BEN AT TERRY

In a close game the Terry Blast U Balls got by the Ben Free K Mitchell by the
score of 6 to 4.

In the 6th inning Terry scored 3 runs with the help of 3 hits. After an out
was recorded, Jason Bay started the rally when he stroked a one-base hit.
Derrek Lee came next and he ripped a base-knock. Edwin Encarnacion then hit
a sacrifice fly. Hunter Pence followed and he cleared the fences for a
two-run home run (his 2nd of the season). Joe Mauer was next to the plate,
but was promptly struck out. Terry rapped out 8 hits for the afternoon.

Ervin Santana(2-2) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Santana was helped out by Brian Fuentes who recorded his 5th save. Ryan
Dempster(2-3) was tagged with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 5 and
2/3 innings.


SAM AT LONI

In a two run game the Loni Green Monstahs got by the Sam Mighty Acorns by the
score of 8 to 6.

Ivan Rodriguez helped send the fans home happy. He doubled in the 2nd inning,
smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 2nd of the season) in the 5th inning and
doubled clearing the bases in the 7th inning. Sam had a chance to come back
in the 9th but they came up short.

The victory went to Kevin Gregg(1-2) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Jonathan Papelbon got the save, his 3rd. Cliff Lee(2-3) was hit with
the loss. Loni scored big getting 7 runs off him in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Loni now has a record of 10-10. With the loss, the Sam ballclub's record is
9-11.
