Center fielder Vernon Wells had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Coors Field where the
Craig Boys of Summer beat the Ben Free K Mitchell by the score of 9 to 4.

In the bottom of the 5th inning Craig scored 6 runs when they had 6 base hits.
The key at-bat was by Wells who came through for the home fans when he
lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 3rd of the season). Craig finished with 16
hits while Ben ended up with 8.

The victory was credited to Chad Qualls(1-0) who went 3 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Jeff Bennett(3-1) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked
around, surrendering 6 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.

Roy Halladay reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts as the Jason Stapley Luck
outscored the Jessica 2 much baseball 10 to 3.

Halladay(3-2) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He allowed just 6 hits
and 1 walk in 9 innings and gave up 2 homeruns. Jason rapped out 12 hits for
the night.

Josh Beckett(1-4) took the loss. He was touched for 6 hits and 2 walks in 2
and 2/3 innings. Jessica Van Tassell was upset after the game. 'I don't
like to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe
they ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule
book.'

TREVOR AT JOHN

Brian McCann cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the John Fab 9 defeated the
Trevor Fencebusters in 11 innings by the score of 3 to 1 at Yankee
Stadium.

The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. John was victorious in
the 11th inning. After two were out Xavier Nady initiated the scoring spurt
when he drew a walk. McCann came to the plate and popped a two-run clout
over the fence (his 2nd of the season) giving John the victory and sending
the 19,849 home-town fans home happy. For the game John out-hit Trevor 9 to
5.

Francisco Rodriguez(2-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning.
The loss was charged to Joba Chamberlain(0-2) in relief. He gave up 2 runs
and 1 hit in 2 innings.

TYLER AT LONI

Ryan Ludwick had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Fenway Park where the Tyler Baseball
Stars beat the Loni Green Monstahs 10 to 4.

In the 2nd inning Tyler went on top for good plating an isolated run using 3
hits. Tyler ended up with 19 hits for the game while Loni had 11.

The win was credited to Ricky Nolasco(3-1) who went 8 innings allowing 3 runs.
Jon Lester(1-1) was the loser. His ERA ballooned from 4.91 to 6.52 as he
allowed 7 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.


TERRY AT SAM

The Terry Blast U Balls nipped the Sam Mighty Acorns 4 to 3 at Wrigley Field
in a hard fought contest.

Terry came up with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. Orlando Hudson led
off the inning for Terry when he doubled. After an out was recorded, Torii
Hunter came up and he drew a walk. Derek Jeter then would hit into a force
play. David Wright was up next and he drew a walk. Jason Bay stepped into
the box and drew a walk to load the bases. Adam Wainwright then threw a wild
pitch. Derrek Lee got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. That
early scoring was all that Cole Hamels(3-2) needed. Sam made it exciting in
the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Brian Fuentes got the save, his 7th. The losing pitcher was Wainwright(0-1).
Sam Austin was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
