Left fielder Alfonso Soriano smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Craig
Boys of Summer won at Coors Field in dramatic fashion over the Jason Stapley
Luck, the final score, 13 to 11.
Craig erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
scoring 2 runs. Ty Wigginton got things going when he drew a walk. Vernon
Wells came next and he was hit by a pitch. Mike Lowell then grounded into a
double play. Nick Markakis stepped in and he lifted one out of the park for
a two run home run (his 4th of the season) making Craig the winners and
sending the 45,639 fans home happy. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame,
scoring in 5 different innings was still not enough for Jason to come away
with the victory.
The victory went to Jesse Carlson(1-1) who went 2 innings, allowing 1 run. The
losing pitcher was Anthony Reyes*(0-1) in relief. He surrendered 1 hit and 2
walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.

Edinson Volquez struck out 13 batters and Clint Barmes had 3 base hits at
Yankee Stadium where the Ben Free K Mitchell beat the John Fab 9 in 16
innings 7 to 6.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Ben was victorious in the 16th inning.
Prince Fielder led off the inning for Ben when he delivered a base-hit.
Shin-Soo Choo stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Jason Bartlett
then drew a walk to load the bases. Chris Iannetta was a strikeout victim,
unable to help out. Jason Grilli then uncorked a wild pitch. One out later,
Jimmy Rollins came to the plate and drew a walk to load the bases. Josh
Hamilton stepped into the batter's box and he was hit by a pitch. Manny
Ramirez got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. This was the kind
of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
Arthur Rhodes(1-0) allowed 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Jose Valverde gained credit for his 1st save. Grilli(1-2) was
charged with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 inning and surrendered 1 hit
and 3 walks.
With this win, Ben has a 15-12 record. They have been 4-6 lately. John has a
record of 11-16 after the loss.

In a lop-sided win the Tyler Baseball Stars registered 6 runs in the 2nd
inning and ripped the Sam Mighty Acorns by a 9 to 2 count.
Lance Berkman enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He doubled in the 1st inning
and launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam homerun (his 2nd
of the season) in the 2nd inning. Tyler finished with 10 hits while Sam
ended up with 7.
Mike Pelfrey(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Todd Wellemeyer(1-4) was the loser. He served up 3 gopher balls in 1 inning.

Jake Peavy shutout Trevor while allowing the Loni bullpen a day-off as the
Loni Green Monstahs beat the Trevor Fencebusters by a score of 7 to
0.
Peavy(4-0) was in control of the game from the outset. He was stingy on the
mound, allowing just 6 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from
4.44 to 3.31. Loni rapped out 11 hits for the night.
Scott Baker(2-1) ended up with the loss. He surrendered 2 runs and 7 hits in
5 innings.
